Ella Louise Christen

Ella was a typical farmer's wife. She cooked wonderful meals with easeand made the 'lefse supreme'. I asked her to give me the recipe but itwas a handful of this and some of that - so I gave up and taught myselfby trial and error. I doubt that my lefse will ever be as good as thelefse Aunt Ella made so easily. I remember visits to the farm and thefun we had making homemade ice cream. One Sunday afternoon Rudy had togo to the next farm to borrow more cream because we had used all theOlson farm had. It was really good ice cream.
There were many difficult years on the farm and especially the year 1929when Ella and Rudy lost two of their children , Betty Ann in March andHarvey Doyle in May. They had strong faith and it carried them throughthe rough times. Ella had a great sense of humor and was so much fun tobe with. She died on April 12, 1991 in Franklin, Minnesota. Her funeralservice was held on April 15, 1991 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church,Franklin, MN. She was buried in the Olson Family plot at Hoff Cemetery,Sharon, North Dakota
