Mary Mc Roberts believes that Henry Seamans is a descendant fromCaptain John Seaman of Hempstead, New York. In 1983 she had not beenable to prove her theory. "Captain John Seaman was born between 1603and 1610 Essex County, England. He came to America in 1630 andeventually settled on a large tract of land that became Hempstead , LongIsland, New York. There, he made his will August 5, 1694 and it wasprobated March 20, 1695. John had 8 sons and 8 daughters by two wives,Elizabeth Strickland and Martha Moore. One of his sons by Elizabeth wasSolomon whose surname was often spelled Simmons. Solomon's will wasdated May 20, 1728. Solomon married Elizabeth Linington, daughter ofHenry and Catherine [Ellison] Linington. Solomon and Elizabeth had 6 or8 children. Two of their sons "went to Maryland".
